It's a wet weather sesh for Playlunch as they bring a funky vibe to 'It's Raining Men' in the Like A Version studio.

In their singlets, shorts and speed-dealers, you'd be forgiven if you thought these guys were gonna belt out some Chisel or Acca Dacca.

But no, the Melbourne-based septet read the forecast and took on The Weather Girls' 1982 dance hit for their big Like A Version debut.

"It's just one of the best songs of all time," vocalist Liam Bell said.

"I feel like it's goofy, it's kind of like a novelty song, but we really wanted to take an opportunity to show people just how badass the actual composition of this track is."

Playlunch are no strangers to goofy novelty music – just listening to their original track 'Le Snak' says it all – but they came to show that within novelty music is a wealth of incredible musical artistry.

"It's so ridiculous and the original of course is full of all these moments that lean into that [novelty]," Liam said.

"But I think for the same reason we liked the idea of treating it quite seriously and being like 'a hurricane is coming, this is the end-of-times, apocalypse-level weather event'."

It's an incredible way to make your mark on the Like A Version historical archives, so brace yourselves for the full Playlunch front coming in from the south.
